Mario Little is the latest Kansas Jayhawk to run afoul of the law

Mario Little was arrested early on Thursday morning and charged with battery, criminal damage, and criminal trespassing. Kansas head coach Bill Self has suspended his senior forward indefinitely from both practice and games.

Here is the version of events as told by KCTV in Kansas City:

According to Lawrence police, they were called to an apartment at 1241 Ohio St. on a disturbance around 2:45 a.m. Police said Little, 22, went to 1231 Ohio St. to see his girlfriend, also a 22-year-old Lawrence resident. Little went into the residence and made contact with his girlfriend and a a 19-year-old man, at which time the man and Little became involved in a fight, police said.

Police said Little's girlfriend left the residence and went next door to a friend's residence at 1241 Ohio St., where there was a party. Police said Little followed his girlfriend to the apartment and pushed a 22-year-old woman who was inside the home in an attempt to find his girlfriend, police said.

Little found his girlfriend in the upstairs of the residence, where police said he battered his girlfriend and pushed her into a sink. A 24-year-old man attempted to break up the fight, police said, but was shoved into a desk by Little. Police said several people broke up the fight and subdued Little until police arrived.

"He's been suspended indefinitely and it'll be significant," Self told reporters Thursday afternoon. "I'm not going to make any judgments until we see the police report and find out exactly what’s going on. (The charges) are misdemeanors, but are still very major and serious in our eyes. We'll wait and see how that plays out."

"I apologize for what happened last night," Little said in a statement. "I feel awful, and I understand that I will have to deal with the consequences of my actions. I accept responsibility for those actions, and I apologize to my teammates for being irresponsible."

First things first. The way this reads to me, Little showed up at his girlfriend's house at 3am and another guy was there. Even if nothing was happening, how many guys would be comfortable with that situation? I don't know if I would. Let's say that he did walk in on his girlfriend cheating on him -- which seems to be the worst case scenario here -- he has every right to be upset, but he doesn't have the right to get physical with four different people as a result.

Would I do any different? That, I don't know. I may have lost my mind as well. But if I did, I would absolutely expect to face criminal charges.

The larger point here is that Kansas has had far too many instances where their players have made headlines for all the wrong reasons. Brady Morningstar's DUI. Markieff Morris' arrest for underage drinking and shooting a woman in the arm with a BB gun from a dorm room window. Sherron Collins missed a court date after a woman accused him of exposing himself in an elevator. Darrell Arthur and Mario Chalmer's expulsion from the NBA Rookie Camp. And, of course, the fight between the basketball and football team prior to last season and the events leading up to it.

That is quite a few instances (and I'm sure I forgot to include something) of player running afoul of the law in a pretty short period of time.

Am I the only one picking up on this?
