Monday Morning Dump

- Over the weekend, former Alabama star Mikhail Torrence collapsed during a workout in Florida. It should be noted that back in June, Torrence was diagnosed with "athlete's heart" a condition diagnosed to athletes with enlarged hearts. As of Sunday morning, Torrence was stable and in an induced coma.

- A must-read for anybody who couldn't keep track of all the transfers, de-committals and re-committals.

- For what must be the fourth year in a row, Penn State's season projection lies squarely on the shoulders of Talor Battle. After initially testing the draft water, Battle decided to return for his senior year, delighting the hoops fans in Happy Valley (pending there are actual hoops fans in Happy Valley)

- I might have missed this one, but Jason King from Yahoo Sports wrote a great piece on assistant coaches who get the job done on the recruiting trail. Guy like Ohio State's Jeff Boals, Texas' Russ Springmann, and my favorite ex-Globetrotter Orlando Antigua

- Matt Norlander believes with Will Barton officially eligible, the Memphis Tigers will be a legit top-25 team and a lock to win the C-USA. I second that notion, and so does Matt Miller. Alongside Joe Jackson and Jelan Kendrick, the other two five-star recruits nabbed by Josh Pastner, Barton & co. has a chance to get Memphis back to national prominence (and this time without all the cheating)

- After their in-state enemies got a commitment from PG Nick Johnson last week, Arizona State one-up'd Arizona by getting a commitment from Jahii Carson, one of the top PGs in the class of 2011.

- Ex-Spartan Chris Allen might not find any Final Four runs in Ames, Iowa, but he should find some well-needed maturity

- Colonials trip to Italy was more about bonding than it was about basketball

- Michigan lost their first exhibition game on their European tour. I was under the impression that D-1 teams always won exhibition games. Oh that's right. Le Moyne. My Bad.

- Kentucky wasn't then only team to take a preseason trip north of the border. New Mexico State (who, right now could very well could be in MWC or WAC or possibly both) had a successful and beneficial trip to "America's Hat"

I'm going to go out on a limb and say there was no lifeguard on duty
