- Former UConn forward Jamal Coombs-McDaniel has decided to transfer to Hofstra. On the same day he made his decision, it was announced that he was admitted into a state drug education program. If you remember correctly, Coombs-McDaniel was arrested in April and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia
- Your must-read list of the day comes from Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports (I know, the "CBS Sports" thing is still weird). "Two Scoops" breaks down the best college coaches using age brackets
- Matt Norlander follows up the coaching breakdown with a solid-read on Wisconsin's Bo Ryan
- Also according to "The ScoopMaster" aka "Two Scoops", Arkansas' Jeff Peterson could be this year's Justin Knox. If you remember correctly, Knox finished his undergraduate requirements at Alabama before using up his eligibility, so was able to transfer and become eligible immediately. The Razorbacks' point guard is in the same boat and could be a hot commodity this off-season
- Dick Vitale will have his name enshrined on the court at Detroit-Mercy. Dickie-V coached four seasons at Detroit, and also served as Athletic Director for one season
- Having trouble starting a conversation? Mike Miller provides an easy topic: The best college hoops player since 1985 never to win a title. Go.
- Colorado is selling all their old Big-12 banners (Now that's how you break up with a conference. No word yet if they are going to burn all their old mixtapes)
- Former Oregon forward Michael Dunigan declined to meet with the NCAA about an eligibillity issue. Dunigan decided to turn pro shortly after Oregon hired Dana Altman as their new head coach a season ago. AS this was happening rumors swirled about Dunigan's connection to agents and his questionable eligibility. Since Dunigan is no longer a college basketball player, he has no requirement to meet with or discuss any issues with the NCAA
- LeBron James never went to Kentucky (or college for that matter), but BBN supporters are pretty upset with Mike DeCourcy for his "LeBron should have gone to college" article
- New Mexico State's leading scorer Troy Gillenwater will not return to the school next year. Gillenwater was on the NBA early entry list back in May, but was also on the NBA Draft withdrawl list which was issued on Tuesday. It is unlikely that Gillenwater would have been academically eligible if he returned
- DePaul senior forward Devin Hill is transferring to Loyola (IL)
- Syracuse big-man DeShonte Riley has decided to transfer to Eastern Michigan. The six-foot-ten sophomore sat out most of last season with a broken foot. The move to EMU is not surprising. Rob Murphy, the Syracuse assistant coach who helped recruit Riley was named head coach at EMU back in April
- NBA Draft debate has been picking up as of late. But instead of reading another diatribe about "Irving or Williams" how about the debate between picking Hofstra's Charles Jenkins or Boston College's Reggie Jackson
- Nothing says "off-season college hoops" like Chaminade coaching updates. The Silver Swords hired a new head coach, and Jeff Eisenberg tells us that his "run-n-gun" style of play will add some flare to the Maui Invitational
Washington coach Lorenzo Romar snags a fish with one hand at the famous Pike Place Market in Seattle
