Unfortunate news coming out of Washington.
Tyreese Breshers, a 6'7", 255 lb forward will be retiring from college basketball, most likely a result of knee and shin issues he has had since high school. Breshers fractured the shin back in high school and surgery was required to put a rod in his leg to stabilize the shin. The rod gave Breshers pain in his knee, enough so that he redshirted the 2008-2009 season.

Breshers never could get into shape after the injury, and understandably so. He still started 12 games last season, however, and was going to be counted on for big things in the coming years. Breshers is a physical presence in the paint, a guy that took up a lot of space inside and had the potential to be a very good rebounder and post scorer at this level.
He averaged 3.0 ppg and 2.6 rpg last season.
Without Breshers, Lorenzo Romar still has options inside. Matthew Bryan-Amaning has the potential to be a break out star this year. Darnell Gant will see his minutes increase, while JuCo transfer Aziz N'Diaye and freshman Desmond Simmons will be expected to provide toughness and physicality inside.
There is a silver lining in all of this.
Breshers will remain on a medical scholarship, which means that despite his basketball career being over, Breshers will still get the free education he was promised.
