- Today's must-read comes courtesy of Paul Daugherty, a columnist for SI that writes for the Cincinnati Enquirer as well, who put together this terrific read on Mick Cronin, who is balancing the rebuilding of Cincinnati's basketball program with the rebuilding of their image.
- Duke's Kyle Singler, who is currently coming off of surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee, should be ready to go by the start of October, and could be back by the start of next week.
- ESPN's Outside The Lines did a great piece on the lives of college referees away from the court. Referees are amongst the most scrutinized of all sports-related professionals, and unlike players and coaches, who have no other "day job", some referees have to do double duty. Great stuff.
- Rutgers has been waiting for a coach like Mike Rice for years. He hasn't coach a single game, yet he seems to be doing everything right so far. And while we're on the topic of recruiting:
- Definitely give this Q-and-A with two of Rivals' recruiting analysts a read.
- Austin Rivers says he won't choose a school until after all of his visits, but Duke is in the lead. I could have told you that.
- Andre Drummond, the No. 1 player in the class of 2012, talks to Jeff Goodman.
- Its Adam Zagoria's turn to talk about the return of Sonny Vaccaro to the world of summer basketball.
- Andy Katz talked to Virgina Tech head Hokie Seth Greenberg to discuss how he will handle the change in his team's frontcourt
- Matt Norlander of The Dagger had a good Q&A session with Old Dominion big man Frank Hassell
- As we mentioned yesterday, Colorado is going to join the Pac-10 next year, as opposred to the original date of 2012. Tad Boyle, the new head coach of the Buffalo, is happy with that decision.
- Oklahoma guard Cade Davis suffered a facial fracture during a team workout last week. He is not expected to miss any games for the Sooners.
- There are quite a few players that are currently nearing the end of their high school careers with the name 'Shaquille'. Shaquille O'Neal entered the NBA in 1992, 18 years ago.
- Kentucky's "Free Enes" movement has grown way past just t-shirts. (I bet members of BBN that can't point out Kanter in a yearbook would tattoo still "Free Enes" on their chest if it meant helping out the program)
- A great study-guide to determine whether or not you are a "booster" (I'm a season ticket holder/member of an official booster club, so I've already gotten this in the mail and read over it).
