- Your must-read of the day comes courtesy of Lost Lettermen's Jim Weber, via The Dagger. Weber was able to land the first interview with Harold Miner, aka "Baby Jordan", in over a decade. I would point out some interesting facts, but it would do a disservice to the piece Weber put together. GO! CLICK! NOW!
- Really, really interesting stuff here from Gazettenet.com, who cover UMass basketball. Marcus Camby was inducted into the UMass hall of fame, and reporter Matt Vautour got an opportunity to talk with both Camby and John Calipari, much of which involved the discussion of agents in college sports. Calipari is quoted extensively in the article. This, however, is the most interesting quote to me: "After I had accepted the Nets job, that information came to me. If I would have known before, I might have stayed to fight through it." I bet that there are quite a few people that would disagree with that.
- Michigan State has been beat up this off-season. Durrell Summers hurt his knee, Delvon Roe missed six weeks (but is apparently healthy), Kalin Lucas just got back on the court after six months of achilles rehab, Adreian Payne missed four months with a separated shoulder, and Garrick Sherman missed a month getting a screw taken out of his foot. Yikes...
- Jeff Goodman caught up with Dana Altman yesterday, but the most interesting part of the post was that Goodman said he's heard from multiple that Michael Dunigan hasn't been with the Oregon program in a week. It seems the big fella is actually headed to Israel.
- This is in regards to a college football player getting suspended for selling his jersey, but it rings true for hoops as well.
- This is pretty cool -- Duke will play the defending D-II champs in an exhibition game at Cameron Indoor.
- Is the Cold War starting all over again? Coach K fired a shot at the Russian head coach, who is an american that made a comment saying Russia deserved to win the 1972 gold medal game. David Blatt, the Russian coach, fired back, essentially calling Coach K anti-american as well. Might be a bad move. Hopefully, the US will win this thing by 30.
- Rumeal Robinson, the Michigan point guard that sealed Michigan's 1989 NCAA championship, is headed to jail.
- This made me laugh pretty hard: It's getting to the point where we can probably blame LeBron for everything: Inconsiderate airline travel clerks; that girl on the train blaring horrid electronica through tinny earphones; people who don't pick up after their dogs; guys who don't understand the "If I miss, I get a layup" rule at open gyms; TV viewers who prefer "Real Housewives" over "Mad Men." If my NCAA tournament bracket is as bad this coming March as it was last time around, don't blame me. Blame LeBron.
I truly abhor people that don't give you a lay-up.
- Does this surprise anyone?
From Inside Memphis Basketball. Will Coleman seems like a funny dude:
