Friday Morning Dump

- Pat Forde gives us the must-read of the day. He talks to the Plumlees and the Zellers, two families from small-towns in Indiana that have produced 41 feet and change of D-I basketball player.

- It is no surprise that in order for Illinois to be successful, Demetri McCamey has to have a big year. Last season, McCamey was phenomenal. We expect more of the same out of the Illini point guard this season, and given that he will be surrounded by, at times, four players that can knock down perimeter jump shots, his number could be even higher with all that room to operate.

- There were seven collegiate players at this year's World Basketball Championships. We already talked about the success Kelly Olynyk was having there, but was did he have the best week abroad? Luke Winn digs deeper.

- Most people have been saying that Coach Cal made the correct decision to offer a scholarship to Enes Kanter because there is no downside to it. He can't get in trouble for something Kanter did as a 16 year old in Turkey. The argument against that theory is that Cal could have landed another big man with that scholarship. Gary Parrish explains why that logic is faulty -- there was no one else available.

- Mike Miller makes an excellent point about the home of the tournament's "First Four". What happens if Dayton ends up being one of the last at-large teams in? Do they get a home game?

- Yesterday, when news leaked that Georgia wide receiver AJ Green would be suspended for four games because he sold a game worn jersey, people rightfully reacted poorly. Today, you get another glimpse of why. Take a look at how much the top NCAA execs make. It is a lot.

- Sam Mellinger of the KC Star absolutely eviscerates Lew Perkins, the Kansas AD that stepped down this week. Hey Sam, didn't you hear? The probes had nothing to do with Perkins stepping down!!! /sarcasm

- San Diego State starting forward Malcolm Thomas was arrested last week and charged with obstruction and delaying a peace officer in his duty. Apparently, Thomas was stopped for Jaywalking right outside Viejas Arena on his was to workout with the team, and things escalated. A few years back, Aztec coach Steve Fisher immediately suspended Lorenzo Wade, who was arrested for felony burglary even though the charges were eventually dropped. Thomas' offense seems much more mild, however.

- West Virginia freshman Darrious Curry has been medically disqualified for the season.

- John Wooden will have a street named after him at Purdue.

- Well will you look at that, Kentucky fans made another t-shirt. This time, it's in support of currently-ineligible Enes Kanter. I swear, Big Blue Nation makes a t-shirt for every occasion.
