Wednesday Morning Dump

- The biggest news from yesterday is that Kentucky freshman Enes Kanter still has not been cleared by the NCAA. Its not academics, as he is already taking classes, but it is his amateurism. Kanter played with a professional team in his native Turkey before coming to the US. Most believe he will be a top five pick once the NBA Draft comes around, but he still has a year before that happens. Kentucky leaves next week for a tour of Canada, and if Kanter is not cleared by then, he won't be able to travel with the team.

- The NCAA has officially announced that they will be attaching academic ratings to coaches in football and basketball, as well as four other sports. Their goal? When discussing a coach, people will say "he's won x amount of games, made this many Final Four, and has this for his academic record." While its a stretch -- how much do fans actually care if these players are getting good grades -- what will more likely be the outcome is that the families of recruits will use the database the NCAA is setting up to help determine how much a coach cares about academics.

- Much of the speculation during expansionocalypse was over where the basketball-playing Big XII remnants would end up. Well, according this article from Adam Zagoria, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, and Iowa State would have been targeted by the Big East. Yeah, that's right. The Big East considered expanding to 20 teams.

- Good article from Rivals.com on some of the streaks that may or may not continue this season.

- Jeffrey Martin of the Houston Chronicle put together a nice read on AAU basketball.

- The prosecution rests in the Rick Pitino case. How long before Law and Order makes a Pitino episode?

- The Big XII released their conference schedule yesterday.

- Andy Katz's Daily Word yesterday was on Frank Martin and Kansas State. Good read, but the most interesting part? Katz slighty resembles Martin, no?

- Hmm...? Now Malcolm Armstead is returning to Oregon?

- BYU-SDSU to be aired on CBS on February 26th. Gotta love some nationally televised Jimmer!!

- Believe it or not, Coach Cal gets hate mail from Kentucky fans.

- Doug Gottlieb's take on Northwestern and Kevin Coble's departure (Insider)

The guy from Dude Perfect have some competition:
