Thursday Morning Dump

- Dominique Ferguson, Isiah Thomas' first high profile recruit (consensus top 100), will not be eligible for the first semester due to poor academics.

- RTC's John Stevens breaks down 24 reasons to watch the 24 Hour Tip-Off Marathon. I have to call shenanigans on this one. If we know JStev, then everywhere it says "energy drinks" or "caffeine", substitute "Makers with a Bud Light back."

- Nice to see the NCAA doing the right thing here. Adrian Thomas, a forward for the Miami Hurricanes, was granted a sixth year of eligibility for this season. In both 2007-2008 and 2008-2009, Thomas played just four games before suffering a season-ending injury.

- Dan Wetzel gets it right with this article on BYU's decision to become a football independent. Here's another fantastic read on the subject.

- We've all heard the story about John Wooden's hole in one. Here's the proof:

- Larry Eustachy to Rick Pitino: It gets easier.

- Nick Johnson has committed to Arizona.

- Arkansas isn't the only school to fire someone covering the sports team over fan affiliation.

- VCU head coach Shaka Smart got a two-year contract extension, through 2015-2016. I put the odds of him actually completing that contract before he gets scooped up by a major program at 10:1.

- A solid breakdown of the Terrapins recruiting class of 2011.

- Brandon Knight hasn't played a real college basketball game yet and he is already being compared to John Wall. But is all seriousness, you expected that right? Well, you should have. Because he will probably be compared to Derrick Rose and Tyreke Evans as well.

Nolan Smith is quickly becoming one of my favorite players. Not for anything he does on the court, but for things like this blog post. "I love my Jay-Z, Lil; Wayne, and Miley Cyrus but I have a soft side too."

He may end up regretting that when Duke plays at Maryland or North Carolina...

Video of Jerry Tipton, a beat writer for the Lexington Herald-Leader, getting nearly run over by a human bowler in a cart during Kentucky's trip to Canada.

Trick Shot Montage #3. Apparently, everyone got this damn email.
