- Your must read of the day, courtesy of the ByLaw Blog. They take a look at agents in college athletics and why the NCAA is going after the at what seems to be a much greater rate. Seriously, good stuff here.
- Carrick Felix was originally supposed to go to Duke, but changed his mind and withdrew from his commitment. He eventually landed at Arizona State, where he is going to provide some much-needed energy and athleticism. He spoke with AZ Central about his decision.
- Interesting stuff here from Adam Zagoria. Roy Williams recruited Dexter Strickland with the assumption that Strickland would play the point his senior year at St. Patrick's -- he had been a two-guard all his life. But Kyrie Irving transferred into St. Patrick's before Strickland's senior season, forcing Strickland back to the two. If you didn't notice, Dexter Strickland struggled a bit this season in Chapel Hill.
- Rush The Court takes a look at the NCAA Tournament ticket lottery system, which could very well undergo a face-lift this summer. You see, the way it is set up currently, anyone that applies for Final Four tickets must pay a non-refundable application fee, which could make this "lottery" illegal in the state of Indiana, where the NCAA is headquartered. Interesting stuff here.
- SLAM got an interview with Brandon Knight. Not much new information here, but for UK fans it is definitely worth the read.
- Andy Katz on Shelvin Mack. Butler may be down without Hayward, but I think it is going to be interesting to see what Shelvin Mack is able to do as Butler's star.
- Excellent post taking a look at the usage of bench players from Dan Hanner over at YABB.
- Rush the Court's John Stevens breaks down Dean Smith's memory loss, speaking from the medical side.
- UConn AD Jeff Hathaway has been named the NCAA's committee chair for the 2011-12 season. Just more proff that no one actually cares about NCAA infractions or rule-breaking; the basketball program at UConn is currently dealing with some recruiting violations and will face the Committee of Infractions in October. For context, read this.
- The Pump Brothers are now off-limits to college coaches. Its probably about time that this happened.
- Did you know Mitch Albom made up a story once?
- Jacob Pullen doesn't believe in ghosts.
- 2011 small forward Maurice Harkless is making a mess of the recruiting process.
- Kentucky's Darius Miller starts mini-twitter riot.
- Wichita High star Perry Ellis is getting home-state looks.
- Marquette's Liam McMorrow is transferring to Tennessee Tech. McMorrow never actually suited up for the Golden Eagles due to an undisclosed medical issue. The good news is that he is offically on the All-Name-Team radar map.
- A must-read from the Providence Journal about the recruiting battle for Alex Murphy, one of the top recruits in the class of 2012.
- South Florida loses 2010 recruit to JuCo.
- Nevada adds highly-touted-recruit to collection.
- Jarrod Uthoff, one of the top 2011 recruits from the Midwest, will announce his decision tomorrow.
- The winners and losers of the Vegas Summer League.
- AUhoops.com, the unofficial official blog of American U. hoops (Can blogs be
deemed "official"?) gets a face lift. Ahh I love summer hoops linkage...
