Syracuse is upset by LeMoyne in an exhibition game

This is not the ideal start to a season for the Orange.

Playing against crosstown "rival", the Orange were upset 82-79 by the LeMoyne Dolphins.

The DII LeMoyne Dolphins.

Like I said, not an ideal way to kick off the season. The Orange were down by five with under a minute to play, but a Wesley Johnson three with 17 seconds left gave the Orange a 79-78 lead. But the Dolphins responded as Christopher Johnson buried a triple with 8 seconds left for the win.

This has happened before. Michigan State, then the No. 8 team in the country, lost in double overtime to Grand Valley State 85-82. Ohio State was also knocked off by Findlay 70-68 that year. Both GVSU and Findlay are DII programs.

This isn't a good sign for the Orange. Michigan State was blown out by Memphis in the second round of the tournament that season, while Ohio State went to the NIT.

If the Orange faithful are to take anything out of this, its that Wesley Johnson looks primed to live up to the hype. He went for 34, but missed a three that would have tied it at the end of regulation.
