Rivals has released their rankings of the top 20 recruiting classes for 2010. A couple interesting things to note from them:
- The Big XII has just one team in the top 20 right now. Oklahoma? Kansas? Texas? Nope, its Baylor, checking in at No. 18 thanks to Daniel Bejaranos decommitment from Texas. The Bears are that high solely because Perry Jones is committed there. By comparison, the A-10 has two teams in the top 20 (No. 16 Xavier and No. 17 Dayton).
- As you would expect, Memphis has climbed up to the rankings thanks to the signings of Will Barton, Joe Jackson, and Chris Crawford. They are currently No. 2 in the rankings.
- Five ACC teams are in the top 10, and they aren't necessarily the usual suspects - No. 4 UNC, No. 5 Wake Forest, No. 7 NC State, No. 8 Virginia, and No. 10 Maryland.
- The ACC has six team overall, while both the SEC and the Big Ten have four. The Big East has two teams, while the Pac-10 does not have a single team in the rankings.
- No. 1 is Ohio State. You shouldn't be surprised, as Thad Matta is arguably the nation's best recruiter not name Calipari.
Think about it like this. Say Tobias Harris ends up signing with Syracuse. There is no way the Orange don't shoot up to the top of the rankings. If Duke is able to land Kyrie Irving and Harrison Barnes, they will have to be in the conversation for best recruiting class. But if Barnes decides to go to UNC...
You get the point.
