UPDATE: Kyrie Irving has(n't) committed to Duke

UPDATE: According to Kyrie Irving (via his Twitter), he actually has not yet committed to Duke.


Kyrie Irving's recruitment is over, at least according to Adam Zagoria, who spoke to three different assistant coaches that recruited Irving.

Apparently, the Rivals ninth ranked player will officially announce his commitment this week, maybe even as early as tomorrow morning.

If Irving does commit to Duke this time (he has been considered almost a lock to be a Blue Devil since he dropped Indiana, and this isn't the first time we've heard he's on the verge of officially committing), his signing is huge get for Coach K and the Dookies. The Devils are thin in the back court this season and lose Jon Scheyer to graduation.

But they will return Nolan Smith and Andre Dawkins, as well as add Seth Curry and Tyler Thornton to the mix. With Irving, Coach K will have a pure point guard with the ability to take over a game as a scorer or as a passer.

The addition of Irving makes that back court one of the best in the country. If the Devils catch a break and get Kyle Singler, both of the Plumlees, and Ryan Kelly to stay for another year, this team will be a preseason Final Four favorite come October 2010.
