There were 172 college basketball games this weekend. If you're hoop-addicts like us, you and your couch got to spend a lot of quality time together on Saturday.
But not only was it a productive weekend of hoops. it was chalk-full of spectacular dunks.
Since we've started spending more time writing for NBC Sports Beyond the Arc, we have decided to group together the #POSTERIZED dunks that are good, but not great-enough to warrant their own post.
But first, have a gander at the marquee #POSTERIZED dunks from the weekend:
Darius Miller - Kentucky vs. Ole Miss
Tony Wroten Jr/Aziz N'Diaye - Washington vs. Arizona
Chris Czerapowicz - Davidson vs. Wichita State
Kenny Gabriel - Auburn vs. Mississippi State
POSTERIZED Weekend Recap 2/17 - 2/19
Branden Dawson - Michigan State vs. Purdue, 2/19
I've stated this before, but it needs rehashing: It's difficult to throw down a windmill dunk in traffic. Usually, you need time and space to set your feet, contort your body and swing your arms. I say usually, because well, sometimes a player decides to forgo conventional wisdom. That's exactly what Branden Dawson did yesterday, and the results speak for itself.
Okaro White - Florida State vs. North Carolina State, 2/18
In-bound ally-oops are a thing of beauty. There isn't too much that is more pretty than a player getting behind the entire defense and finishing home a nice slam. Okaro White did just that. The pass from Deividas Dulkys was a bit too high, but White has the athleticism and wingspan to make up for it.
Ian Hummer - Princeton vs. Cornell, 2/18
This might not be the best dunk of the weekend, but it's certainly my favorite. You just don't expect to see mean-muggings like this in Ivy League games. Ian Hummer can get up in a hurry, that I am certain of. This is probably the first time you're seeing this dunk. Make sure it's not the last.
Sir'Dominic Pointer - St. John's vs. UCLA, 2/18
I still think it's beyond stupid that this kid's name is "Sir'Dominic", but I've been told I can't voice my opnions here. Anyways, this was a sick dunk. Enjoy.
Caleb Walker - Nebraska vs. Illinois, 2/18
The Huskers absolutely humiliated the Illini on Saturday. At one point, the Huskers were on a 37-2 run. That's just unacceptable. To make matters worse for the Illini, they got shown up by Caleb Walker and his nasty one-handed ally-oop.
Sebastian Koch - Elon vs. Western Carolina, 2/18
This is the perfect type of dunk to highlight in the Weekend Recap. It's not spectacular, but it's well above average. Koch went "hard to paint" and finished with authority. I like it.
Brandyn Curry - Harvard vs. Yale, 2/18
The #POSTERIZED series has been devoid of a good reverse jam for far too long. Luckily Harvard's Curry was here to save the day. But the dunk isn't even the best part. The play-by-play announcer is hilarious. He kinda sounds like he's a 12-year old providing play-by-play while he's shooting hoops in the backyard. But hey, he's on the mic and I'm not.
But was it as good as these?
