It's Draft Day 2011, college hoop's equivalent of Graduation Day, except instead of a diploma, players get hat, jersey and photo-op with David Stern.
As required by the BIAH higher-ups:
- Go through and read our draft profiles. They're good. I promise.
- Five players that won't get a second NBA contract.
- Five players that will be second round steals.
- And lastly, here is why you need to be excited for the BIAH Draft Diary, coming Friday. Last year's was hilarious.
- Andy Katz provides a must-read on the mismanagement of the Venoy Overton situation. The Husky guard was suspended for the Pac-10 tournament because of sexual assault allegations. He was then allowed to compete in the NCAA tournament, before being arrested on promoting prostitution charges in early June. Head coach Lorenzo Romar probably would have done it differently if he had the chance
- Speaking of Washington, according to an interview on GoHuskies.com, former-guard Isaiah Thomas decided to declare for the draft because he was told he would have to share point guard duties next season
- But we're not done with Washington just yet. Rumors are starting to swirl about the possibillity of Lorenzo Romar leaving U-Dub in favor of the Minnesota Timberwolves
- Seth Davis provides draft profiles for 40 of the top NBA draft prospects in the country (It seems like he put in a lot of effort, so give the guy a pageview or two, will ya)
- Boston University has finally hired a new head coach. Joe Jones, a former-Boston College assistant coach will replace Pat Chambers, who left in May to take the opening at Penn State
- According to a rebounding graph put together by Dan Feldman, it's not even funny how much better Kenny Faried is than everybody else at cleaning the glass
- Former-UCLA stars Ed O'Bannon and Baron Davis will be returning to Westwood this summer in order to complete their studies and recieve their degrees
- Former-Binghamton coach Kevin Broadus has been hired by Georgetown University as a special assistant coach. The former-Hoya player served as an assistant as his Alma Mater before taking the head coaching gig at Binghamton, where he was swamped with contreversy and constant allegations of NCAA violations
- It appears that Oklahoma is getting closer towards resolving their NCAA investigation into the recruiting violations involving former center Keith "Tiny" Gallon
- Washington State will have to get over not being able to rely on Klay Thompson and his scoring proficiency. But is there a fool-proof answer as to how the Cougars will go about doing this?
- I missed this from Monday, but since I'm such a huge Mike Rice fan, I have to throw it in here. Jason King details Rice's efforts to resurrect the Rutgers basketball program
- Doug Gottleib isn't like you or I, so clearly, his draft big board is going to be slighty umm... different
- I've been wondering the same thing for a very long time. Words like "upside" and "potential" have become more valuble than "experienced" or "proven winner"
- Tuesday was NBA Draft "Yearbook picture day"
