Stetson loses their top three scorers

Casey Alexander's job just got a whole lot tougher.

Alexander is the new head coach at Stetson, taking over a team that went 8-23 last season and 6-14 in the Atlantic Sun. There was reason to be hopeful, however. The roster had just one senior and one junior and was talented enough to beat (a really bad, but still) Wake Forest.

Not anymore, however.

Stetson's top three scorers from a season ago have all been kicked off the team for academic or conduct reasons. From the Daytona Beach News-Journal:

Leading scorer Ridge Graham, a sophomore last year, committed a violation of the Stetson student code and is no longer at the DeLand university, Stetson Sports Information Director Dean Watson said.

Former Seabreeze High star Corey Walden, who as a freshman guard was the Hatters' second-leading scorer, and forward Luis Jacobo, also a freshman last season, are both gone from the school after failing to meet academic standards.
Ouch.

Now, I've never been a coach at any level above summer camp, but I'm fairly sure that losing 48.6% of your team's scoring in one fell swoop is not the best way to start things off as a brand new head coach.
