Monday Morning Dump

- Dennis Dodd believes that Bruce Pearl and Jim Tressel are not likely to receive the type of redemption that current-Morgan State head coach Todd Bozeman has gotten. 15 years ago, Bozeman was the youthful head coach of a rising California program. But after an investigation into his program was launched, he admitted to paying the family of recruit Jelani Gardner $30,000. The NCAA handed Bozeman an eight year show-cause penalty

- Every now and then, the NCAA does get one right. They have allowed Missouri and Missouri Southern to play an exhibition gamer in Joplin, Mo. which was ravished by tornadoes a month ago

- Missouri's Frank Haith and Texas A&M's Billy Kennedy may be new to the Big XII, but they aren't new to each other. A friendship blossomed between the two head coaches while the two of them were climbing up the coaching ranks

- Desptie the infusion of new blood, the Big XII coaches remain avid supporters of scheduling tough non-conference opponents

- Another collegiate hoopster got selected in the MLB draft. American U. forward Stephen Lumpkins will forgo his senior season in order to sign a with the Kansas City Royals, who drafted him in the 13th round. Lumpkins had been drafted by Pittsburgh in the 42nd round of last year's draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates, but decided to stay in school

- A great-read on New Mexico assistant coach Ryan Miller, the older brother of the Miami Heat's Mike Miller. Mike's new-born daughter Jaelyn was born on May 19 with severe health problems including four holes in her heart, so Ryan has spent most of his off-season traveling between New Mexico and Florida, helping his brother cope with his duaghter's condition along with trying to keep him focused on winning an NBA Championship

- An interesting debate is brewing over whether or not John Calipari's 500th career victory was valid. (It's kinda confussing, so I'll spare you the details, just click the link)

- Former Kansas guard Royce Woolridge has announced his intentions to transfer to Washington State

- Former Wake Forest center Tony Woods will enroll at Texas. OR maybe he hasn't. (Oh wait, Borzello said that? I stopped believing that topsider a long time ago. OK, maybe he hasn't signed the paperwork yet, but seriously, stop picking nits you nitpicker)

- VCU rising senior Toby Veal has decided to leave the Rams basketball program in order to pursue other oppurtunites. You may remember that back in MArch, during the Ram's Final-Four run, some local supporters helped raise money in order to send Veal's mother to watch him play in Houston

- Remember Keion Bell? You know, the Pepperdine guard who dunked over seven people during the Wave's Midnight Madness dunk contest? Well after a season that featured that as his "One Shining Moment" he has decided to transfer

- Kentucky was worth the wait for North Carolina State transfer Ryan Harrow

- Mike Miller explains how Malcom Lee's departure to the NBA might help the UCLA basketball program. Speaking of UCLA, Highly-touted recruit Tyler Adams still lists the Bruins as one of his possible suitors despite the change to the Bruins' coaching staff

- Ken Cross details how the DePaul Blue Demons are taking shape under Oliver Purnell

- Washington head coach Lorenzo Romar has announced the team captains for next season. Junior Abdul Gaddy will lead the Huskies along with senior Scott Suggs and Darnell Gant

- Speaking of Washington, when the team travels to New York City for the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, basketball won't be the only thing they focus on. A few of the players will attend braodway performances as part of a independent study courses in drama. The players involved will attend seminars about Broadway plays before the trip, then attend a Broadway show, followed by a paper about the performance. It's nice to see that schools are thinking outside-the-box when it comes to educating these "Student-Athletes"

- The Nebraska athletic department is looking to spice up the environment at Cornhusker games as the school enters the Big-Ten Conference

- The LSU Tigers recently spent some time on a team trip to Italy, and are hopeful the bonding experience will help them become a better team

- UConn continues to haul in big-name recruits. Early in the week DeAndre Daniels announced his intentions to attend UConn, and late in the week Omar Calhoun did the same. And to think, it was just a couple of weeks ago that we were all wondering if coach Calhoun would return to the sidelines

- Auburn landed their second high-quality recruit of this off-season. Tony Barbee just got a commitment from top-100 guard Jordan Price, who, along with Shaquille Johnson, will provide a huge boost of athleticism to the Tigers roster

- Former Tennessee head coaches Bruce Pearl and Lane Kiffin met in front of the NCAA Infractions Committee to answer questions regarding the violations committed by the school's football and basketball programs

- Last week, there was quite the buzz about the jersey selection of Duke-bound Austin Rivers. Over the weekend, Kentucky Sports Radio determined which numbers the incoming Kentucky class will be wearing

- Justin Young put together a solid Q&A session with Towson's new head coach Pat Skerry

- Utah State head coach Stew Morrill has signed a contract extension that would keep him in Logan, Ut. until the 2016-2017 season

- Missouri-Kansas City has extended the contract of head coach Matt Brown. The Kangaroos coach will have a contract with the school until the 2013-2014 season

- Cuonzo Martin has hired Mark Pancratz, a former video coordinator under Bruce Pearl as a member of Tennessee's new-look staff

- Kentucky Athletic Director Mitch Barnhardt says he has no interest in applying for the AD position at Tennessee

- Speaking of Barnhardt, apparently he is working with John Calpari to extend the head coach's contract
