Wally Judge to Rutgers

Mike Rice continues to rake in the talent at Rutgers as he has landed Kansas State transfer and former McDonald's all-american Wally Judge.

Judge, who averaged just 5.5 ppg and 3.8 rpg at KSU, left the team in late January after being forced to sit out by Frank Martin while dealing with personal issues. According to Jeff Borzello over at CBSSports, Dave Cox -- a current Rutgers assistant and a former member of the DC Assault AAU program that Judge was a part of -- played an instrumental role in getting Judge to New Jersey.

Its ironic that Judge, who came down to choosing between Maryland and Rutgers, made his decision on the same night that Mark Turgeon took over the head coaching gig at Maryland. Jeff Goodman tweeted out that he had heard Judge was hours away from committing to Maryland before Gary Williams retired.

Maybe Judge simply didn't want to play for Turgeon?

If that's the case, is that a bad omen for Turgeon's tenure?

Not a bad omen at all. Can't read much into what one kid does. Turgeon has a great track record. Time will tell, but he's a solid hire!

Rumors (and ONLY rumors) are surfacing that Judge's decision was made before William's retirement became public. Supposedly during a meeting a few weeks back, Williams didn't take kindly to 'suggestions' from Judge's advisor regarding the manner in which Williams should 'coach up' Judge to enhance his NBA status.
Good luck to Wally and Rutgers, but no reflection on Turgeon if rumors become fact.
