Wednesday's Pregame Beat: UConn-Georgetown, Wisconsin-Purdue, four leagues leads on the line tonight

6:30 pm: No. 10 Wisconsin @ No. 11 Purdue: The battle for second place in the Big Ten takes place on the Big Ten Network (great, I can't watch) tonight. The Badgers are fresh off of an upset of then-No. 1 Ohio State, thanks in large part to some terrific play from junior point guard Jordan Taylor. Purdue, on the other hand, has their own terrific perimeter in E'Twaun Moore, a 6'4" senior shooting guard that has snapped out of the slump he was in earlier this season.

The matchup I am most looking forward to is, obviously, JaJuan Johnson and Jon Leuer. Back February 1st, Leuer had 24 points and 13 boards to Johnson's 23 points and four boards in a 66-59 Badger win. That was at the Kohl Center, however. Can Wisconsin pick up a win on the road?

7:00 pm: No. 9 Georgetown @ No. 12 UConn: Ever since a change in the starting lineup, moving Nate Lubick to the four and Hollis Thompson to the bench, the Hoyas have been unbeatable. Literally. They are in the midst of an eight game winning streak. On the other hand, UConn is trending the other way. Kemba Walker and Jeremy Lamb are not playing anywhere near the level they were two weeks ago, and the Huskies are losing games because of it. A loss just about ends UConn's bid to earn a top four seed in the conference tournament.

11:00 pm: No. 23 St. Mary's @ San Diego: The Gaels are currently sitting at 10-1 in the WCC. With a win, they can guarantee themselves at least a share of the conference title, their first since 1989, and further reduce Gonzaga's strangle hold on the league.

7:00 pm: UAB @ Memphis; 8:00 pm: UTEP @ Southern Miss: UTEP sits a game in from of both UAB and Memphis, who sit a game in front of USM, in the Conference USA standings. All four teams are also ranked in the top 55 of the RPI, so not only is the conference lead on the line, but tournament bids may be as well. Keep in mind, Cameron Moore is out for the Blazers, and you should read this and this.

7:00 pm: Vermont @ Maine: The Catamounts can clinch the America East title tonight after starting on conference play 3-2. They are currently two games up on Boston University with just two games left to play.

7:00 pm: Kent State @ Miami OH: Kent State beat Miami by 21 back in January in their first meeting of the season. If the Redhawks can answer, they would tie Kent State for first place in the MAC.

10:30 pm: New Mexico @ No. 6 San Diego State: The Lobos are running out of chances if they want to seriously compete for an NCAA Tournament berth. At 5-5 in the MWC with eight losses overall, New Mexico is almost to the point that they must win out.

7:00 pm: No. 16 Louisville @ Cincinnati: The Bearcats, like the Lobos, are running out of chances to back up their record with some quality victories. Home games against ranked teams are opportunities that Cincy cannot squander right now.

7:00 pm: No. 18 Vanderbilt @ Georgia: The Commodores and the Bulldogs will be fighting for second place in the SEC East, believe it or not. This is the kind of game that Georgia cannot afford to lose right now. They are in shakier bubble standing than Vandy.

7:00 pm: South Carolina @ Tennessee: Tennessee has made a change in the back court and will give Trae Golden's minutes to Skyler McBee at the point.
