On Sunday, the Paint Crew -- the Purdue Boilermaker's student section -- submitted their nominee for fan performance of the year.
By now you all should have seen Jared Sullinger's rendition of the Miley Cyrus song "Party in the USA". The good folks of West Lafayette clearly have. When Sullinger went to the foul line on Sunday, the student section sang him the chorus of the song:
Unfortunately, Sullinger knocked down both free throws, but that shouldn't take away from just how awesome it was to see a couple of thousand students singing Miley Cyrus in unison. Sullinger even tweeted after the game "I loved it. It almost made me laugh."
Maybe its just me, but it seems like there has been an awful lot of terrific student section performances this year. Whether it is Northern Iowa students doing their interlude dance, Kansas fans doing a choreographed dance to Will.I.Am, or anything that Wild Bill can come up with, my hat goes off to the students around the country for being creative and supportive while cheering on their teams.
Bonus video -- those Northern Iowa kids brought down the house with their Interlude Dance on Saturday against George Mason. Seriously, this is so awesome:
