In case you missed it, last night Mississippi State had yet another embarrassing public display of their lack of team unity.
After the Bulldogs lost 75-61 to Alabama, Ravern Johnson had a mild twitter meltdown. Brad Locke, who covers the Mississippi State beat for the NEMS Daily Journal, was all over this when the ... tw-it went down:
Senior guard Ravern Johnson was vanilla in his postgame interview, but he unloaded on coach Rick Stansbury on his Twitter page not long after, eschewing proper punctuation during his mini-rant.Oh, and if that wasn't enough, Renardo Sidney retweeted the post.
"Starting to see why people Transfer," Johnson wrote, "you can play the minutes but not getting your talents shown because u watching someone else wit the ball the whole game shooters need to move not watch why other coaches get that do not make sense to me."
Guard Twany Beckham and forward Elgin Bailey both transferred in early January.
Sidney and Johnson have both since taken down their twitter pages and Rick Stansbury has banned his team from tweeting.
But is it too little too late?
If you thought Mississippi State had any chance to turn their season around after the holiday brawl that Sidney and Bailey participated in on ESPN, that is probably headed -- if not already -- out the window.
The bigger question is how long Stansbury will last in Starkville. All it takes is a fan base, some boosters, or an AD to get fed up with the negative portrayal of the University the past three months. Remember, all this happened immediately after the news broke that Cecil Newton tried to sell his son to the Bulldogs football team.
Its one thing to win while making headlines for off-the-court issues.
Its another story to create negative publicity and lose. That yields far less job security.
