New Mexico still had slim NCAA Tournament hopes heading into Saturday night's game against Utah.
They can kiss those goodbye now.
The Utes, playing without their leading scorer Will Clyburn, knocked off the Lobos 62-60. The ending was slightly controversial, however. Apparently, Chris Hines never called "bank":
"I kept my eye on the clock, so when I got the ball, I knew I had to get it up as soon as I could," Hines said after the game. "As soon as it left my fingertips, it felt good, but I had to ask the Lord for a little bit of help."
Hines wasn't even supposed to start, as he was filling in for Clyburn. He was effective, finishing with 15 points and five threes. The ironic part? With this win, Utah and New Mexico are now in the same boat -- trying to figure things out to prepare for a run through the conference tournament.
