Monday's Pregame Beat: Michigan State and Georgetown head to Chicago and New York, respectively

7:00 pm: No. 13 Georgetown @ St. John's: The Johnnies have been a nice surprise here at the start of Big East play after winning at West Virginia and Providence. Georgetown, on the other hand, is coming off of a loss to Notre Dame at the Joyce Center last week that opened up their Big East schedule. The Johnnies are going to have a tough time matching up with Georgetown's back court -- this season, who isn't -- but the way that Steve Lavin's front court has been playing for the last couple of games has been impressive. Think about this -- St. John's shot 25-41 from the floor in their win against West Virginia. They also got to the foul line 39 times. This was just one game after they went 16-20 in the second half against Northwestern. Maybe we will get a real sense of how good the Red Storm is tonight.

7:30 pm: No. 19 Michigan State @ Northwestern: This is the second of three really difficult games to start off Big Ten play for the Wildcats. It didn't go well in their opener, as they were beaten pretty solidly by Purdue on the road. They still have to travel to Illinois later in the week, meaning that tonight's game is crucial if NU really wants to be taken seriously as a threat to make the NCAA Tournament.

7:00 pm: Hofstra @ Drexel: There is a full slate of CAA games tonight, but this one might be the most intriguing as Chris Fouch and Charles Jenkins, arguably the two best scorers in the conference, go head to head.

Other Notable Games:

  • 7:00 pm: Penn @ No. Kentucky
  • 8:00 pm: Nicholls State @ No. 16 Texas A&M
  • 8:00 pm: Savannah State @ No. 17 Kansas State
  • 7:00 pm: Iona @ Siena
  • 8:00 pm: Florida State @ Auburn
  • 9:00 pm: Rhode Island @ Florida
