No. 20 Washington 85, No. 25 Arizona 68: See here.
Virginia Tech 74, Maryland 57: See here.
UCLA 86, Cal 84: See Reeves Nelson's game-winner here.
No. 17 Wisconsin 69, Indiana 60: The Badgers trailed for the majority of the first 27 minutes, but Jon Leuer and Jordan Taylor came to the rescue. Leuer scored in double figures for the 25th straight game, finishing with 20 points, but Taylor was the star. He had 28 points, eight rebounds (a team high), and four assists. The more I watch Wisconsin, the more I believe he is the most important player on that team, and, with all due respect to Demetri McCamey, he could quite possibly be the best point guard in the Big Ten. And, uh, oh yeah, I called it.
Santa Clara 85, Gonzaga 71: Kerry Keating picked up the biggest win in his tenure at Santa Clara as Kevin Foster went off for 36 points and the Broncos took advantage of some Gonzaga foul trouble to pull away late. The Zags are simply not as good as we thought they were going to be this season. They don't have a point guard. Steven Gray, Elias Harris, and Robert Sacre are all very talented basketball players, but none of them are great at creating their own shot. The Zags have too much one-on-one play going on, and it burned them Thursday.
Utah Valley State 107, North Dakota 96 4OT: This one was wild.
Florida 45, Auburn 40: This was hideous. I'll only make this comment -- Florida hit two threes late that won this game and will probably reinforce the notion that this team should shoot more threes. In actuality, they should stop settling for jumpers and get the ball inside.
Northwestern 98, SIU-Edwardsville 55: John Shurna didn't play in an effort to help heal his sprained ankle.
Utah State 74, Louisiana Tech 57: The Aggies keep on rolling in WAC play, getting five different players in double figures in this one.
Wofford 88, Chattanooga 56: Chattanooga came into this one 7-0 in the conference. Wofford's the league favorite, but damn.
Tennessee Tech 71, Austin Peay 68: Zach Swansey hit a 23 footer with 1.2 seconds left on the clock to hand the Governors their second OVC loss in a row. It opened the door for Murray State, except...
Eastern Illinois 61, Murray State 60: The Racers lost.
Liberty 100, VMI 82; Coastal Carolina 80, UNC-Asheville 59: Liberty is 8-1 in the Big South. Coastal Carolina is 8-0 and won at Liberty. The rematch is February 3rd.
UNC-Greensboro 87, Georgia Southern 75: After losing their first 15 games, the Spartans have now won three in a row? Go figure.
High Point 64, Presbyterian 60 OT: Our boy Shay Shine can do more than just dunk. He had 27 points and hit 6-6 from three. Give that man a contract!
