Scoop Jardine's #twitterfail

Scoop Jardine apparently ain't the brightest.

Rewind to the summer of 2008. Anyone remember this? I'm sure Georgetown fans do.

Jonny Flynn, Rick Jackson, and Jardine, who were all freshmen at the time, were accused of sexual assaulting a woman in two separate instances in the fall of 2007. All three were cleared of the charges by the state's legal system, although they were put on probation by the University.

Fast forward to yesterday. One of the trending topics that spread through Twitter was #CollegeTaughtMe. Jardine had this to say:

#collegetaughtme that groupies really exist! But we just call them #teamplayers! Ahaha
#collegetaughtme if you f a girl an the news get out they denie it and say he only gave me head! Bye girl!! Knowing he beat it up #keepit103
#collegetaughtme that the freshmen 15 pounds for girls is really happening. Sometime extra 30 pounds. Ahaha
Now, the Syracuse blogs that picked up on this seem to believe that Jardine is referencing his sexual assault case.

Personally, I don't believe that to be true. I'm sure that there are plenty of basketball team groupies hanging around that Syracuse campus.

But what I am sure of is that there isn't a college coach in America that is OK with his players tweeting about groupies and the freshmen 15, especially when the tweeter has a sexual assault allegation in their past. Jim Boeheim certainly wasn't thrilled as Jardine apologized Wednesday for his tweets and has since taken down his twitter account.

I have no problem with Jardine's account being taken down -- hey, a point has to be made, right? -- but hopefully, this doesn't ruin twitter for the other Syracuse athletes.

Social media is a great way for fans to be able to interact with their favorite players, and in upstate New York there are few people more beloved that the Syracuse Orange.

So Scoop, if you are allowed to get back on twitter, stick to tweeting about basketball, TV shows, school work, and, well, pretty much anything other than women.

Cool?
