- After attending Big East media day on Wednesday, ESPN.com Dana O'Neil was at the A-10's media day yesterday. She had a chance to speak with a number of coaches about the possibility of losing the July recruiting period and, well, they pretty much felt the way we all expected. The A-10 commissioner and SEC commissioner both talked about it as well.
- The preseason top 25 coaches poll came out yesterday. No surprise up top, as Duke was No. 1, followed by Michigan State, Kansas State, Pitt, and Ohio State. Purdue, without Robbie Hummel, only fell to 8th.
- Andy Glockner put together his top 10 conferences. There is plenty of room for debate at the bottom of the list -- he has the Horizon League at No. 10, over the WCC, C-USA, and CAA -- but he backed up his argument on twitter last night.
- Arizona State's prized recruit Jahii Carson has said that he will wait until the spring signing period to sign his LOI with the Sun Devils. He's not decommitting, apparently, he just wants to make sure that this is the right school for him. That, and someone took No. 1 already.
- Gary Parrish's top wings.
- Former Georgetown star Charles Smith was shot twice in the chest last night.
- Here's a review of George Dohrmann's terrific book "Play Their Hearts Out."
