Chicago State finally hires a head coach

It only took 85 days, but Chicago State finally has found a head coach.

The Cougars fired former coach Benjy Taylor on April 19th, and finally, nearly three months later and a week into July's observation period, Tracy Dildy has been hired.

"This is a bittersweet moment in my life to leave my Alma Mater, the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), where I developed my coaching career," said Dildy. "It's also a sweet moment to begin my head coaching career at CSU where President Watson is leading the charge towards a new and revitalized University. I'm also excited to work with Davis in helping shape the Athletics Department into a competitive program."
Dildy isn't a bad hire. He's a Chicago guy, playing at King High School in Chicago and at Illinois-Chicago. He's coached at DePaul -- where he helped land Bobby Simmons, Steven Hunter, and Quention Richardson -- Ole Miss, UAB, Ball State -- where he recruited Bonzi Wells -- and Auburn, and was previously an associate head coach at UIC.

Dildy is a proven recruiter with obvious Chicago connections, and with the wealth of talent in the Chicago area, it shouldn't be long before Dildy has the Cougars winning more than nine games.
