Tuesday's Shootaround: UConn is still alive, Kansas rallies to beat Texas A&M

UConn 84, Villanova 75: The Huskies got 29 points and 9 boards out of Kemba Walker to lead them to a huge win over Villanova on the road. UConn had been struggling, losing eight of their previous 11 games, but the win over the Wildcats is a huge boost for the Huskies tournament hopes. UConn has to win at least four of their last five games, including West Virginia, if they want a chance to get an at-large bid. Click here for more of our breakdown on this game.

Kansas 59, Texas A&M 54: Kansas struggled for most of the game last night against the Aggies. Sherron Collins never got going, Xavier Henry struggled after a quick start, A&M's David Loubeau was the best big man on the floor, and the Jayhawks decided that they didn't need to rebound the basketball on the defensive end.

That said, Kansas played great defensively, holding the Aggies to just 54 points on 35% shooting despite the 18 offensive boards. Donald Sloan, who scored 10 quick points early in the game, finished with just 15 on the game. And as much as Kansas struggled, they played that well over the last six minutes. The Jayhawks used an 11-2 surge to close the game and improve to 11-0 in the league. Cole Aldrich, Marcus Morris, and Xavier Henry all scored 12 points in the win.

Maryland 85, Virginia 66: I think Maryland was upset by that loss at Duke, because they lit into the Cavs in the first half. Greivis Vasquez scored 25 of his 30 in the first 20 minutes as the Terps opened up a 52-34 lead. Vasquez was 10-13 as Maryland shot an astounding 70% from the field in the first half. With the win, the Terps keep pace with Wake Forest and Virginia Tech a game out in the loss column in the ACC.
