A "mistake" by PTA Sports Management had the state of North Carolina in an uproar yesterday. You see, PTA Sports (who has since taken their website down) had UNC's Ed Davis listed as a client yesterday.
Raise your hand if you see the problem here.
As any reader of this site should know, Davis is still a sophomore at UNC. He is still on scholarship there. He hasn't declared for the draft (which many expect him to eventually do). And while Davis' season is likely done due to a broken wrist, UNC still has a month of basketball left to play.
Regardless on where you looked yesterday, all sides are calling this a mistake, which is pretty much what they have to do. The agency has admitted to having contact with Davis, but both sides strongly denied any written or verbal agreement.
So what happened?
Well, either a competitor found out about this oral agreement and hacked the website to sabotage the deal, or PTA Sports was simply dumb enough to post Davis as a client while he is still officially in season.
Either way, I doubt we will ever know the truth. Davis would be a fool to sign with this agency. Do you really want to have a firm that is that dumb or that insecure representing your professional interests?
Didn't think so.
But I do think that it is now safe to assume that Davis is gone.
At least some real news came out of all this.

Ed Davis didn't sign with an agent, apparently |
