Sunday's Pregame Beat

2:00 pm: Houston @ Iowa State: Houston and Iowa State both look like they are destined to be on the outside of the bubble looking in come March. That said, this game is definitely worth watching as both Houston's Aubrey Coleman (25.9 ppg, 7.1 rpg) and Craig Brackins (17.5 ppg, 8.1 rpg) will be playing for pay one day soon.

2:00 pm: Wisconsin @ Penn State: If you like PG play, tune in. Talor Battle is a lights out scorer, capable of dropping 30 any given night. Trevon Hughes has the typical NYC "point god" flair, with the decision-making of an Ivy-leaguer. The Big Ten is wide-open between the third and the tenth spots. As good as Wisconsin has looked in home wins against Duke and Ohio State, I would not be surprised to see the Nittany Lions pull this one out.

2:05 pm: Missouri State @ Northern Iowa: The two best teams in the MVC square off. In typical MVC style, don't be surprised if this game doesn't make it out of the 50's.

3:00 pm: Florida @ NC State: The Gators climbed to the top 15 at one point in the season, but a three game losing streak changed that. Florida likes to get out and run the floor, and will want to control the tempo against the slower-paced Wolfpack.

3:00 pm: UTEP @ Texas Tech: Texas Tech has struggled a bit of late as they have not played defense up to the standards of Pat Knight. They are going to need to against a talented Miners team that can put up a lot of points. Derrick Caracter has four double-doubles and is averaging 14 and 10 six he became eligible.

4:30 pm: Ohio State @ Michigan: Too bad Evan Turner is still out. It would have been great to see college basketball's too best fantasy players go at it. Michigan desperately needs this win. They have yet to beat a team ranked in the top 200 in the RPI. Barring a huge turnaround, this team will probably miss the NCAA's.

5:30 pm: Xavier @ Wake Forest: Xavier has had a bit of an up-and-down season, and with how good the A-10 is shaping up to be this season, they are going to need wins like this if they want to solidify an at-large berth.

7:45 pm: Clemson @ Duke: Game of the night! Jon Scheyer and Nolan Smith are going to have to handle Clemson's pressure. I'm curious to see how the Duke big men will play against a guy like Booker. He's a bit stockier than any of the Duke bigs, but he is also much stronger and more athletic (and that's not meant to take anything away from Duke's athleticism, but Booker nears freak status).

8:00 pm: Southern Illinois @ Illinois State: Both the Salukis and the Redbirds are going to have a chance to win the MVC this season. Both also have a potential pro - Tony Freeman for SIU and Osiris Eldridge for ISU.

Other notable games:

  • 1:00 pm: South Dakota State @ Kansas State
  • 1:00 pm: Maryland @ UNC Greensboro
  • 3:00 pm: Houston Baptist @ Memphis
  • 3:05 pm: Bradley @ Wichita State
  • 5:30 pm: Providence @ St. John's
