Preseason AP all-american team released today

The AP preseason all-american team was released today, and there really were no surprises:

  • Luke Harangody (57 votes out of 65 ballots)
  • Cole Aldrich (49)
  • Sherron Collins (39)
  • Patrick Patterson (35)
  • Kyle Singler (30)
Can't really argue with that team. My only problem is that it isn't, actually, a team as much as it is a list of the five kids most likely to with player of the year. Call me crazy, but I've always been partial to the all-american team consisting of two guards, two forwards, and a center, preferably with a point guard and a two guard, as well as a power forward and a small forward.

Whatever. Preseason awards and rankings are nothing other than blowhards like myself pontificating about the season and trying to show off their knowledge about the sport. More likely than not, at least one of these guys will not be on the postseason AP all-american team.
