UPDATE: Kyrie Irving will not be a Hoosier

Just a few weeks after listing Indiana as one of his co-leaders (along with Duke), Kyrie Irving, a top 10 recruit in the class '10, eliminated IU from contention.

The decision comes just weeks before Irving was scheduled to take an official visit to the Bloomington campus.

Each recruit gets five official visits. Right now, Irving is heading to Kentucky, Duke, Georgia Tech, and Texas A&M. He is trying to decide between Seton Hall and UConn for his fifth official. UPDATE: Irving will take his fifth official visit to Seton Hall.

I don't want to speculate as to why Irving backed out on his official visit. (If you read some of the quotes from the people around him, it simply seems like he just didn't want to go there.) Kids make decisions like that all the time.

But if you're Tom Crean, you have to be pretty disappointed. For a program in the rebuilding phase, Irving is the kind of talent that not only can carry a team, but will make the players around him better and possibly attract more top tier talent. Remember, his high school teammate is Michael Gilchrist. Yes, that Michael Gilchrist.

Now that they are out of the running for Irving, the Indy Star is reporting that Tom Crean's staff is currently chasing after former Tennessee commit Josh Selby, another five star point guard.

Anyway, here's a quick mixtape of Kyrie Irving highlights from the Nike Global Challenge:
