North Carolina fifth year senior guard Will Graves has been kicked off the basketball team for the dreaded "violation of team rules."
"This is 100 percent not related to any NCAA matters on campus," says head coach Roy Williams said in a statement. "I hate this for Will. He worked extremely hard this summer to get himself physically in the best shape he's been in years, but he did not do everything he needed to do to be a part of our basketball program. This is a huge blow to our team, but an even bigger blow for Will. Playing for the Tar Heels meant so much to him."
With the incoming perimeter talent the Tar Heels have, Graves wasn't going to play an enormous role. But he was the only senior in the back court and seemed to finally be reaching his potential at the end of last season. He averaged nearly 10 ppg in 2009-2010, and finished the season with a career-high 25 point out burst, hitting seven threes, in the Tar Heel's 79-68 loss to Dayton in the NIT finals.
