Michigan State's rough offseason continues to get worse.
Russell Byrd, a 6'7" freshman and top 100 incoming recruit, has suffered a stress fracture in his foot that will likely require surgery and could keep him out for the entire season. It is the same foot that Byrd broke and had surgery on back in May, but the foot did not heal the way that the Spartans had hoped.
The injury and the surgery itself isn't necessarily a season-ender, but by the time Byrd is healthy, it may not make sense to bring him back and use up a year of eligibility.
