The 2010-2011 BIAH Preseason All-American Teams

I know all of you have been patiently waiting for us to roll these out.

A couple of notes:

  • I'm not going to be providing a profile of the player's in this post. Everything I would have written can be found in the positional breakdowns. (By Position: PG, SG, SF, PF, C)
  • I tried to keep these teams as true to the natural line-up of a basketball team as possible, but in some places it was tough.
  • I want to say that this is a reflection of what I think the all-american teams will look like at the end of the season, but I'm not exactly sure what the difference is in who I think the best player's in the country are now, and who we predict to be the best players in the country this season. I guess maybe that's a long winded way of saying I'm putting freshmen in the mix.
  • We love a good discussion here at BIAH, so feel free to tell me what I effed up in the comments.

  • G: Jacob Pullen, Kansas State, Sr.

Preseason AP all-american team released today

The AP preseason all-american team was released today, and there really were no surprises:

  • Luke Harangody (57 votes out of 65 ballots)
  • Cole Aldrich (49)
  • Sherron Collins (39)
  • Patrick Patterson (35)
  • Kyle Singler (30)
Can't really argue with that team. My only problem is that it isn't, actually, a team as much as it is a list of the five kids most likely to with player of the year. Call me crazy, but I've always been partial to the all-american team consisting of two guards, two forwards, and a center, preferably with a point guard and a two guard, as well as a power forward and a small forward.

Whatever. Preseason awards and rankings are nothing other than blowhards like myself pontificating about the season and trying to show off their knowledge about the sport. More likely than not, at least one of these guys will not be on the postseason AP all-american team. Continue reading...

Monday Morning Shootaround

The college basketball season officially begins TONIGHT, as Georgia Southern will play Houston at Cameron Indoor Stadium at 4 followed by Duke playing Presbyterian at 7 in the first of the regional games in the 2k Sports Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.

Here at BIAH we will be doing morning shootarounds on a daily basis, updating you on any and all information you could need from the previous day's college hoops action. Since tonight marks the beginning of the '08-'09 season, we figured now is as good a time as any to give you the BIAH 2008-2009 pre-season all-american team.

Now the way that I see it, there are three schools of thought when it comes to all-american teams. The first is that the team should be made up of the best player at each of the five positions (we've done that already). The second method is that you put together the best possible team. In other words, if you were to be putting a team together to, oh I don't know, play in the Olympics, who would you put on that team?

The last method is to put together a team of the five best players, regardless of position. We have already done the first two, so without further ado, your BIAH all-americans.

G - Darren Collison, UCLA
G - Stephen Curry, Davidson
F - Tyler Hansbrough, UNC (Player of the Year)
