Friday Morning Dump

- The Mountain West Conference won't expand anymore, instead settling for having Boise State replace Utah. Andy Katz said there is no reason the rivalry between the Utes and BYU cannot continue with Utah heading to the Pac-10.

- Lawmakers in Houston are pushing for the University of Houston to be accepted into the Big XII. I don't see this happening, not with Texas hoarding Big XII TV money. Hopefully it will be awhile before the Big XII does anything; apparently, the ten teams signed a ten year deal to remain together.

- The Big East has denied that Orlando TV report that they are close to adding Memphis and UCF.

- Thankfully, it doesn't appear that Maryland has any interest in joining the Big Ten. As of now, the biggest question seems to be how the league will break up their divisions.

- Speaking of the Big Ten, Iowa State's Fred Hoiberg, who has no head coaching experience, has hired former Charlotte head coach Bobby Lutz.

- Good read from Luke Winn on incoming UNC freshman Harrison Barnes. That kid is for real.

- Draft Express caught up with Da'Sean Butler.

- I'm sure you've heard about Evan Turner's childhood by now -- Dana O'Neil had this fantastic piece back in November -- but here's a good read from the Philly Daily News.

- Billy Donovan made the right decision returning to Florida.

- Marcus Jordan, who averaged 8.0 ppg for Central Florida, doesn't like Kobe being compared to his pops.

- John Wall unveils his new, very-wizard-like Reebok sneakers. He then challenged Obama to 1-on-1 after his workout in DC yesterday.

- The Knight Commission Report came out yesterday.

- University of San Francisco get's 2-year probation after more than a dozen athletes improperly spent more than $13,000 in scholarship money

And here is the rest of it.
