The Expansion Crisis Day 9: Updated throughout the day

8:23 am: No news has broken yet today, but it will. Among other things, Nebraska is expected to announce that they have joined the Big Ten, we are still waiting to learn more about the rift between Texas and Texas A&M, the Big East was rumored to have been in Lawrence, KS, last night, and where will the Big Ten target next?

Follow along here today, and we will post all the news we come across as we find out about it.

11:45 am: This has nothing to do with expansion, but there are now rumors circulating that Tom Izzo cancelled a tee time for this afternoon and will be holding a press conference at 4pm. This could be really, really bad news for the Spartans and fans in East Lansing.

I guess the next question toi consider is if Izzo does in fact go to Cleveland, who takes over Michigan State? Brian Gregory? Jim Boylen? One of MSU's assistants? And how many of his players will transfer out as a result? Will the recruiting class remain intact?

Stay tuned.

11:40 am: In a text to the AP, Tom Izzo said that he has yet to make a decision regarding coaching the Cavs.

12:15 pm: For those that are hoping the Big East will add the likes of Kansas, Kansas State, and Missouri, don't get too excited. Matt Perrault, a talk radio host, is reporting that the Big East's old guard -- Villanova, Georgetown, Providence, etc. -- does not want that. If Kansas does happen to come east, Perrault is saying the Big East will likely break up -- Catholic schools and football schools.

12:45 pm: Joe Schad is reporting that Boise State will join the Mountain West today.

3:15 pm: Nebraska just made it official. They will be joining the Big Ten. No surprise there. The surprise came with the timetable -- the Cornhuskers hope to be competing as a member of the Big Ten by the 2011 season. With this move, it all but guarantees that Texas (who will be announcing after a Tuesday afternoon regents meeting), Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State are headed to the Pac-10. Original projections had them joining for the 2012 season, but if Nebraska moves up their switch, expect the four Big XII south schools to make the same push.

The way it looks, the Big XII has just one year left. I get the sense there is going to be a lot of hurt feelings and wounded pride when this is all said and done. Next year's Big XII should be interesting to watch.

4:45 pm: The Oklahoman is now reporting that Oklahoma will definitely be accepting a bid to the Pac-10. They will be waiting until after Texas makes their final decision/announcement (expected on Tuesday) to make it official/public.

6:00 pm: Dan Beebe had a lot to say in his press conference, but perhaps the most interesting this he had to say was that he didn't believe the Big Ten would be coming after any other Big XII schools. That means Missouri, who many believe was pining to leave the Big XII, will be making a drastic change next year. Big East? Mountain West? Conference USA? All are a far cry from the Big XII.

6:05 pm: The Cleveland Plain-Dealer is now reporting that Tom Izzo will announce his decision tomorrow. They also claim that Michigan State players left a meeting with Izzo feeling as if he will leave. Does Izzo know something about LeBron we don't?

What about Crean leaving IU for MSU? He was assistant under Izzo before taking Marquette head spot.

I know it may not look it right now, but might Indiana actually be a better job than Michigan State? And based on what I've heard (I'm pretty sure Goodman tweeted it last night) Crean is unlikely to be the guy.
