UPDATE: Monday Morning Dump

The hardworking staff here at B.I.A.H took a break from conference expansion this weekend to join the masses for an outdoor viewing of the America/Britain soccer game futbol match in downtown Washington, D.C.

It's funny because, well, no time other than June every four years do Americans give a damn about soccer, international or professional.

But man, you would have had me fooled yesterday.

It was crazy-ridiculous.

You can take a guess at what went on in the world of college hoops. That's right: expansion. Hit the jump for all the recap you can handle.

UPDATE: Of course, right as I posted today's dump, Chip Brown -- the Orangebloods.com reporter that has dominated this story -- tweeted about Texas committing to the Big XII. About three minutes after that, he posted a story on it. Texas staying in the Big XII could end this realignment mess, so long as Texas A&M doesn't run off to the SEC. Stay tuned here folks, this could get interesting today.

- The biggest news from the weekend is that it now appears that Texas A&M is set on joining the SEC. AggieYell.com was the first to report it, but the Houston Chronicle picked up on the story as well. The Aggies leaving the Big XII would all but kill a conference currently on life support.

- The fight for the Big XII isn't over yet. Dan Beebe, the commissioner of the conference, is pushing for the remaining schools to stick around. He's promised as much as a $17 million payout -- comparable to the SEC -- with a new deal, fewer teams to split revenue, and dividing up the money the schools that leave will have to pay. Texas is considering the offer right now. The survival of the Big XII pretty much rests on the shoulders of Texas. OU, OSU, and TT are likely attached at the hip with Texas, and if the Horns decide to stay put, those three schools may very well do the same. We will likely find out Texas' decision on Tuesday after a regents meeting, but with the Texas House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday to discuss the change, we may keep waiting.

- If you are going to read anything about expansion today, give this column from Dan Wetzel a read. Wetzel tells us that one of the factor's being overlooked in expansion is how important the recruiting aspect is. The guys over at D1scourse have their questions on expansion, and they are good ones. Frank the Tank gives us the real reason that Notre Dame's hand could be forced, and it doesn't have anything to do with football. Lastly, both Jay Bilas and Dennis Dodd forewarn about the potential super conferences.

- Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott spent his weekend on a plane flying around the midwest, visiting both Oklahoma schools and the three Texas schools. It was scheduled to make a trip to Kansas City, but its unclear if the plane actually arrived.

- Regardless of what happens, the Big XII remnants should remain together. Baylor and the other four schools without a home are in talks to do just that. At the same time, Kansas and Missouri have an eye on the Mountain West.

- Memphis has a close affiliation with FedEx, and the CEO of FedEx is offering up as much as $10 million a year to any BCS conference that would add Memphis.
