Memphis lands another elite recruit

One of the things they teach you in Recruiting 101 is to land the talent in your area.

Josh Pastner has been doing just that.

Not even a month after Joe Jackson, a consensus top 20 recruit (12th by Rivals, 17th by Scout) and Memphis native, committed to the Tigers, Pastner has landed another elite recruit from the Memphis area.

Chris Crawford (66th by Rivals, 38th best SG by Scout), another Memphis native who teamed with Jackson on the Memphis Magic AAU team that won the Super 64 tournament in Vegas (he hit the game winner), committed to the Tigers last night.

Pastner also landed Will Barton, a consensus top 10 recruit from Baltimore, and his brother Antonio, who both committed to Memphis back in June.

Crawford's signing only bolsters what many, including myself, already believed would be one of the best back courts in the country for 2010. Jackson, Barton, Elliot Williams, Roburt Sallie, and now Crawford? If Pastner can get Will Coleman to return for his senior season and Angel Garcia to recover fully from a torn acl, he is probably one more big man away from having another top 10 team in Memphis.
