Friday Morning Shootaround

Last night was pretty slow for college basketball. Apparently, there was some football game on or something?

Anyway, here are the scores you want to know about:

  • Butler 64, Wright State 48: Matt Howard had 14 and Gordon Hayward added 12 and 11 boards as the Bulldogs remained undefeated in the Horizon.
  • Minnesota 52, Iowa 49: The Golden Gophers were down by 13 in the first half, but managed to scrap their way back in an ugly game. Lawrence Westbrook and Travis Busch led Minnesota with 10 each, while Jeff Peterson had 16 for Iowa.
  • Xavier 70, St. Louis 44: The Musketeers got 20 points on 6-6 shooting from Derrick Brown as they rolled over the Billikens in both teams A-10 opener.
  • Arizona State 69, Oregon State 38: The Sun Devils were on fire last night, hitting on 65.1% from the field. In the second half alone, Arizona State was 16-18 from the field. James Harden led ASU with 22 (on 10-11 shooting).
  • Arizona 67, Oregon 52: Chase Budinger broke out of his shooting slump to hit for 20 points on 8-15 shooting (he was still just 1-5 from beyond the arc, however). The Wildcats pick up their first Pac-10 win.
  • Cal 57, Washington State 50: Winning on the road isn't easy, especially win you play a conference game against a very good defensive team, but Cal was able to hold on versus the Cougars to start 3-0 in the Pac-10. Jamal Boykin had 12 points and 14 boards while Patrick Christopher added 22 for the Bears.
  • Washington 84, Stanford 83: Jon Brockman went for 19 points and 18 boards, which included a basket with 4.6 seconds left off of an offensive rebound, as the Huskies improved to 2-0 in conference play. Isaiah Thomas had 18 for Washington.
  • Utah State 50, Louisiana Tech 37
  • Nevada 79, New Mexico State 71 OT
  • Florida International 81, Western Kentucky 79
