On Thursday, reports started to trickle out of the NBA's Rookie Transition program that Mario Chalmers and Darrell Arthur were sent home because they were caught smoking weed with a couple of girls in their hotel room at 3:30 am Wednesday morning, the first night they were at the Rye Brook, NY resort.
Well, apparently, it was initially reported by the worldwide leader that Michael Beasley was also in the room at the time, but he was deemed not connected with the weed (later reports removed his name). From The Big Lead: According to police, the mystery man locked himself in the bathroom, repeatedly flushed the toilet, and refused to open the door.
I don't think we will ever really know if that is true, but the fact that it is an internet rumor is not good for Beasley or the NBA, especially given the pre-draft concerns about his immaturity and "goofy" demeanor.
Back to Kansas, as I said in the previous post, this is just another knock on the reigning national champs. From Sherron Collins' run-ins with the law (and lack of run-ins with a treadmill), to Markieff Morris' target practice, to the accusations that Arthur's grades were falsified in high school, all the publicity that Kansas has been getting since winning the title has been bad.
If you've read this blog before, then you know that I am a big fan of Jason Whitlock, and here is his take on the situation.
