Tuesday's Pregame Beat: Belmont and Middle Tennessee State highlight a slow night

Game of the night: 8:00 pm: No. 15 Wisconsin @ Milwaukee

The Badgers bounced back from a pair of losses to Marquette and North Carolina by beating both Green Bay and UNLV at home. They were impressive performances that were much needed after there were many questions raised about the legitimacy of this Wisconsin team. While Ben Brust and Jared Berggren have started to play a bit better, Jordan Taylor still isn't scoring the way that he did last season. Was he really just a fluke in 2010-2011? Milwaukee is a tough team. They got drubbed by Northern Iowa on the road, but that came one game after the Panthers smacked DePaul at DePaul.

Who's getting upset?: Villanova Wildcats

This is not the same Villanova team that we have come to expect out of Jay Wright's program. They are young, they are inconsistent and they don't have the kind of dominant guards that Villanova is known for producing. I like Maalik Wayns and Mouphtaou Yarou, but I think they are better served as role players than as feature stars. BU may have the most improved player in the country in Darryl Partin. The La Salle transfer has bumped his scoring from 14.3 ppg last season to 22.7 ppg this year. If he gets hot, BU has a chance.

Mid-major matchup of the night: 8:00 pm: Middle Tennessee State @ Belmont

We all know about how good Belmont is this season, but MTSU is pretty good in their own right. Sitting at 9-2 on the year, the Blue Raiders have wins at Loyola Marymount and UCLA as well as knocking off Akron. One of those losses came at UAB. The other? A double overtime loss at home to Belmont earlier this year. Will we get another classic tonight?
