Monday's Pregame Beat: Dickie V gets a court dedicated to him

There is not much on the docket for tonight. And by not much, I mean there's pretty much nothing. Personally, I'm going to take this opportunity to catch up on some games that I have recorded. But if you are dead set on watching live hoops, here we go:

7:00 pm: St. John's @ Detroit: This is the best matchup of the night, which should tell you what is in store for the rest of your hoops viewing this evening. Detroit has been a massive disappointment this season, as Ray McCallum hasn't been able to lead this group to the promised land. It hasn't helped that Eli Holman is still suspended and Nick Minerath has been injured. St. John's is young, but they are an athletic group that likes to press, which could cause some issues for Detorit's back court. This game may end up being worth the watch just to see McCallum and Nurideen Lindsay go back and forth.

What's more noteworthy from this game is that Detroit's home court is going to be renamed Dick Vitale Court. Hate his broadcasting style if you like, but you cannot quibble with the fact that there may not be a man with a bigger heart in all of college basketball. He's dedicated to what he believes in, he has raised millions for charities beyond just the cancer research we all know about and he's genuine, which is a quality you rarely find in people these days. \

Congrats Dick, you deserve it!
