Kendall Marshall's interesting superstition

By now, we have likely all heard about Kendall Marshall's terrific performance as North Carolina's featured point guard in Sunday afternoon's 89-69 win over Florida State.

In case you missed it, he had 16 assists -- not 16 points, 16 assists, which is a record for UNC players in ACC play -- in 36 minutes while turning the ball over just three times.

Wrap your head around that. Playing his first game as North Carolina's lone option at the point, Marshall set a school record for assists in a conference game. He also set a record for freshmen. The only Tar Heels to ever record more assists in a game? Raymond Felton, Ed Cota, and Jeff Lebo. That's pretty good company. Keep in mind, Marshall didn't do this against Wake Forest. He did it against Florida State, who came into the game rated as the second best defensive team in the country.

And you wonder why people were calling for him to start since early in the season?

None of that, however, is the best part of this story. Dan Wiederer explains:

Marshall wasn't totally overcome with anxiety. And despite playing 18 minutes in the first half, he wasn't completely gassed either. But somewhere along the line in his basketball career, Marshall began throwing up as a way of hitting the reset button, a habit he had throughout high school and revisited Sunday.

"I told myself I needed to throw up if I was going to play in the second half," Marshall said. "So I went into the bathroom, threw up and came out ready to play."
Ok, then.

Maybe Roy Williams should invest in a couple of bottles of ipecac to keep in the locker room.
