Tuesday's Pregame Beat

I can't remember a time when there were two more highly anticipated game on the same day in November than Washington-Kentucky and Duke-Kansas State. It should be a fun night tonight.

CBE Classic

7:30 pm: Marquette vs. No. 18 Gonzaga: Big game for both teams, but Gonzaga probably needs this win more right now. Will the real Elias Harris please stand up?

10:00 pm: No. 1 Duke vs. No. 4 Kansas State: I could wax poetic about this game for 500 words, but do I need to? Its the No. 1 team in the country against the No. 4 team with the two most impressive wins this season. Do I need to say more? I shouldn't.

Maui Invitational

2:00 pm: Wichita State vs. Chaminade: Losing to UConn all but killed the Shocker's chance on an at-large bid.

4:30 pm: Virginia vs. Oklahoma: Even I will likely be missing this, umm, classic? Anyone else hoping for a Chaminade-Virginia rematch?

7:00 pm: No. 2 Michigan State vs. UConn: The Huskies get their first real test of the season. I'd be shocked -- SHOCKED -- if Kemba Walker was able to touch the ball without two people running at him. If he's allowed to, it should be fun to watch him go up against Kalin Lucas.

9:30 pm: No. 11 Washington vs. No. 9 Kentucky: Ahh, our first rivalry game of the season. Why is it a rivalry? Well, Washington fans believe that UK stole not only Terrence Jones from them, but also Enes Kanter. Isaiah Thomas was vocal about it on twitter. It doesn't hurt that both of these teams look like the will be in or near the top ten all season long.

Cancun Challenge

4:30 pm: La Salle vs. Providence

7:00 pm: No. 12 Missouri vs. Wyoming: It could be an interesting matchup if La Salle, who gave Baylor some trouble, advances to face Mizzou in the finals. Their last time out, the Tigers forced 34 turnovers. I hope Wyoming's back court is ready.

Other Notable Games

8:00 pm: No. 3 Ohio State vs. Morehead State: If you still haven't seen Morehead State's Kenneth Faried play, its worth the watch. He will be in the NBA next season. And for what its worth, the Eagles only lost to Florida by six.

7:00 pm: No. 23 Butler @ Siena: This is an intriguing test for Butler. The Saints went into Minnesota and gave the Gophers a fight. A lot of people are calling the Bulldogs overrated right now. A convincing win here could help to silence the doubters.

7:00 pm: Oakland @ Wright State: If you like good mid-major basketball, then be sure to pay attention to this one.

9:05 pm: New Mexico State @ UTEP: One of the rare, out of conference rivalries in which the teams play a home and home. Both have struggled early in the season, but these are two teams that can really put up points. Troy Gillenwater of NMSU and Randy Culpepper of UTEP are two of the best players you've never seen play.

  • 7:00 pm: Robert Morris @ No. 5 Pitt
  • 8:00 pm: Texas A&M CC @ No. 6 Kansas
  • 7:00 pm: Austin Peay @ No. 8 Purdue
  • 7:00 pm: Florida Atlantic @ No. 14 Florida
  • 8:00 pm: UT-Martin @ No. 15 Memphis
  • 9:45 pm: Yale @ No. 19 Illinois
  • 8:00 pm: Sam Houston State @ No. 23 Texas
  • 7:00 pm: UNC-Asheville @ No. 25 UNC
