Tuesday Morning Dump

- Today's first must-read isn't necessarily about college hoops, but about Cameroonian hoops. A couple of UCLA students headed to Cameroon for the Daily Bruin, and part one of their two part series was an absolute knockout.

- Your second must-read of the day comes from Jason King, who got an exclusive interview with Renardo Sidney. Sidney really opened up to King.

- Your third must read of the day is a profile of UAB point guard Aaron Johnson from the Birmingham News. Johnson was one of 12 siblings growing up in a rough Chicago neighborhood.

- Not to be outdone, Jeff Eisenberg of the Dagger puts together a nice look at Arizona's Momo Jones, who has one of the best nicknames in college hoops. Jones is the heir apparent to the name position at Point Guard U.

- Mike DeCourcey gives you his take on Jim Calhoun and UConn, and we tend to agree with him. Calhoun built UConn into a national power from nothing. At this rate, he'll be leaving the Huskies as a pile of rubble when he finally decides to call it a career.

- Jeff Goodman gives you his leading candidates to be impact transfers. No one on this list will have anywhere near the impact of a Wesley Johnson or an Ekpe Udoh or a Jordan Crawford, but there are still some important pieces being added to very good teams.

- Speaking of list's, here are Luke Winn's top 16 backcourts. Tough to argue with a top four of Duke, MSU, Georgetown, and Villanova. My only qualm? Butler at five? Seems a bit high to me.

- Cool post from Fanhouse, where they break down college basketball's preseason magazines.

- Maryland might sneak up on some people, but I have a tough time believing this team will compete for an ACC title again.

- John Beilein has no seniors on his Michigan roster this season. He also has no NBA prospects. Isn't that how he won at West Virginia? Don't ever sleep on a Beilein-coached team.

- America East teams Boston and Albany will get a chance to play on the big stage at MSG, as part of a double-header with St. John's and UConn.

- In a Q-and-A with the Seattle Times, Mark Emmert was asked about further expansion of the NCAA Tournament. His response: "I don't see anything in the near future. We obviously haven't played a tournament with the 68 yet, to see how it all works. I think it will be exciting. Let the future bring what it may. I'm very pleased with the structure we have now."

- Nittany Lion backup-forward Sasha Borovnjak is done for the season with a torn-ACL.

- A good-read on Kentucky reserve forward Jon Hood (after all, considering 85% of their lineup will probably go pro, you might want to know who he is before the 2011 draft.) Speaking of Kentucky, Coach Cal says he's not a big fan of the Maui Invitational (well, playing in the Maui Invitational that is).

Baylor commit Isaiah Austin. 7-foot high school juniors aren't supposed to be able to cross someone up on the perimeter and hit a pull-up 15 footers.

Who in the world would you put above Butler at 5? Shelvin Mack is an NBA level player who is also experienced. Now that Lacedarius Dunn is gone, there can't be more than 5 guards in college like that. Putting Villanova over them is very questionable.
