- As you know, Friday marked the start of the college basketball season. Here's RTC with a recap of Midnight Madnesses (Midnight Madni?) from across the country.
- Perhaps the biggest news on Friday was UConn's meeting with the Committee on Infractions. It lasted 13 hours. That's a long meeting. Jim Calhoun was still able to make it to practice on time, however.
- Today's must-read comes from SI's Seth Davis, who has ten burning questions about the college basketball season.
- Excellent read from Adam Zagoria on Tim Floyd and Larry Eustachy ending up in C-USA.
- I've always thought Jamelle Horne had quite a bit of potential, but he's never been able to live up to it. Reading things like this -- about his change in work ethic and attitude -- makes one believe he may, one day, fulfill that potential. If he does, placing Horne alongside Derrick Williams in the Arizona frontcourt is a scary proposition.
- One thing that I, personally, have never questioned -- the fandom of Memphians when it comes to their Tigers. They're not quite on Big Blue Nation's level, but who is? Speaking of Memphis, Adonis Thomas was in the house for Midnight Madness. Thomas is a Memphis native. Josh Pastner and company played this video for his benefit.
- Gary Parrish wasn't the only writer in Memphis for Midnight Madness. Jeff Goodman was as well, as he kicked off a trip around the country watching practices and evaluating teams. He posts about each team on his blog the day after (here is a link to Kansas State, but I urge you to go through and read up on the rest of them) and the info is quite insightful. Oh, and Goodman got yammed on:
- We didn't link it up when it happened, but Scout's Dave Telep has headed to ESPN to cover recruiting. Here's one of the first pieces from Telep on some impact freshmen.
- Fanhouse had their writers out in full force on Friday night covering the Midnight Madni (yeah, I'm sticking with it). The best I've read is here, on Duke's Seth Curry, who needed eight stitches to close a gash in his eye.
- !!!New Club Trillion Post!!! Titus answers viewer mail. Hilarity ensues.
- Former Kentucky guard Darnell Dodson was arrested over the weekend, while West Virginia guard Casey Mitchell was suspended indefinitely from the team. What for? The dreaded violation of team rules.
- UVa's Sammy Zeglinski needs knee surgery.
- Will BYU go undefeated this season? The safe-bet is "hell no", but don't tell that to senior guard Jackson Emery. For what its worth, Emery didn't really guarantee a perfect season as much as he said he thinks BYU can win every game they play which, when you think about it, is probably the correct attitude to have.
- DePaul has hired a former player in Kevin Edwards to join their staff.
- George Mason had a huge weekend, and it wasn't because of the Midnight Madness.
