Twitter is a funny thing.
As Mike Wise from the Washington Post made clear with his infamous decision to lie about a scoop on the length of Ben Roethlisberger, it is very easy to set the internet world on fire with a fake rumor.
Brett Blevins may have done just that.
If you are unfamiliar with Blevins, I don't blame you. He's a basketball coach, he writes for Hoops Report, and, apparently, he knows a "gestapette", also known as one of the NCAA's compliance investigators looking into Enes Kanter's eligibility. According to Blevins, Kanter will be eligible and will be suspended for around six games, although right now the sticking point seems to be just how long he will be suspended.
Now, I don't know Blevins. Never met him, probably never will. For all I know, he could actually be an investigator on Kanter's case. But I tend to agree with both John Clay and Matt Jones (if you follow Kentucky sports at all, you know they rarely agree). No one knows what the outcome of this investigation is going to be. Not John Calipari. Not Enes Kanter. Hell, I doubt the NCAA investigators know what they are actually going to do here.
I don't mean to try and discredit Blevins. He absolutely could have walked into a hell of a scoop here. But for now, I would take this internet rumor for just that: an internet rumor.
