I bet you didn't think it could get much worse for Bruce Pearl this summer, did ya?
Well, it can. And it did.
According to a report this afternoon from Dana O'Neil and Pat Forde of ESPN.com, when Bruce Pearl was the head coach at UW-Milwaukee the program self-reported violations to the NCAA. That violation was Pearl inviting a junior recruit, reportedly Mike Schachtner, to his house for his daughter's graduation party. High school juniors are not allowed to meet with coaches at off-campus sites.
This also happens to be the violation that the NCAA caught Pearl lying about during their investigation of his recruitment of Josh Selby and Aaron Craft.
So maybe we now know why Pearl lied about recognizing the picture of him and Craft in Pearl's house. You don't want to be caught by the NCAA doing the same thing twice. You might get off fairly easy the first time, but do the same thing again and they will be coming after you.
Not only did Pearl commit the same offense a second time, he lied to the NCAA to try and cover it up.
You may want to be out of earshot when the hammer finally drops
