Thursday Morning Dump

- The best read of the day is from Joe Posnaski at SI, who talks about Dean Smith.

- Mike DeCourcy and Gary Parrish, two of the best reads about college basketball, got into a twi-bate early yesterday morning regarding John Wall and the academic prowess of the one-and-done's. Its interesting stuff. Our general opinion is that quite a few of the one-and-done players -- or anyone that has decided that they are leaving school early -- stop going to class, but that the percentage is probably lower than many assume.

- Jeremy Lin, the former Harvard star, had a great summer league playing with the Warriors Mavericks. It was enough to earn him a contract with the Warriors. Golden State fans should be happy, this kid can play.

- If you have some free time on your hands, I have a great way for you to waste your time -- Kim English, who is one of our favorite hoopsters, went on the radio to discuss all things Mizzou. It is great. English is open and honest about things like Kansas losing to UNI, the free throws he hit against Marquette, and Carmelo's wedding.

- Adam Zagoria got a chance to talk to Jim Calhoun and Kemba Walker, who come into this season without much hype. Will it motivate them?

- Tre'Von Willis, who was arrested last month, has been charged with one felony count.

- Good stuff here from Andy Katz on officiating next season. The part I find interesting? John Adams, the head of officiating, wants refs to focus on calling a foul/violation when there is a foul/violation, regardless of the time on the clock.

- Jeff Borzello over at MMAS caught up with John Thompson III at Peach Jam.

- Coach K isn't the only Dukie on the USA team rosters.

- Crazy story about Coniel Norman, a former Arizona basketball star. He was, literally, "lost", as his family reached out to the Arizona media because they had no idea where he was. Eventually, he was "found", and he is actually getting back on his feet.

- Ohio State will still be wearing the LeBrons next season.
